Most PDF sites upload your document, process it on their servers, and ask you to trust their retention policy. PDFVerge has no upload step, so there is no copy of your file to keep, leak, or subpoena.

Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Every tool runs as JavaScript inside your browser tab. Your file is read from disk into memory on your own device, changed there, and saved back to your downloads folder. You can confirm it yourself: open your browser's network inspector, run any tool, and watch that no request carries your file.
Is PDFVerge free?
Yes, every tool listed here is free to use with no account and no watermark on your output. Because there is no server doing the work, there is no per-file cost to pass on to you.
Is there a file size limit?
The limit is your device's memory rather than an upload cap. Files in the tens of megabytes are fine on a normal laptop or phone; very large scanned documents may be slow on older hardware.
Does it work offline?
Once a tool page has loaded, the processing itself needs no connection. You do need to be online to load the page the first time.
